A half-our motion on the country's energy crisis will be moved on the floor of Parliament next Friday, June 8, for discussion.
The motion filed by three MPs states that "the Honourable House notes with concern the current energy crisis and urged Government to adopt an effective programme to address the problem urgently".
MPs Alhaji Amadu Sorogho for Abokobi-Madina; Haruna Iddrisu for Tamale South and Dr Kwame Ampofo for South Dayi, are the three.
This was contained in a report of the Business Committee for the Fourth Week which was presented to the House on Friday by the Majority leader, Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong.
According to him, the committee had scheduled five ministers to respond to various questions including urgent ones filed by a number of MPs.
He said the ministers would be requested to answer 23 questions and three urgent questions which stood in the name of the MP for Yilo Krobo, Mr Raymond Tawiah; the MP for Mion, Dr Yakubu Ahmed Alhassan and the MP for Mfantseman East, Mr George Kuntu Blankson.
Mr Owusu-Adjapong said the ministers invited to the House were for Local Government, Rural Development and Environment, Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, the Minister of the Interior, Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah, and the Minister of Transportation, Mr Felix Owusu Adjapong.
He said the Speaker may allow statements which had been admitted to be made in the House.
"Mr Speaker, bills, papers and reports may be presented to the House for consideration and other businesses which have already been presented to the House would also be considered," the minister said.
He said further that a committee of the whole meeting had been scheduled for Tuesday, June 5, 2007 and therefore informed all committees that due to the said meeting no other committee meeting should be programmed.
"Other motions may be debated and the appropriate resolutions taken where required," the Majority leader said.
