Reverend Otuo Acheampong, Chairman of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has charged catechists in the church to intensify their evangelism to increase the membership of the Church.
He said it was regrettable to note that the PCG, which is 179 years old had less than one million members.
In a sermon to climax the 25th annual conference of catechists of the PCG in Kumasi at the weekend, Reverend Otuo Acheampong urged Christians to publicly proclaim Christ as the saviour of mankind and let His goodness known to the people to enable them accept and worship Him.
The four-day conference was under the theme: "let us go on to maturity".
He bemoaned negative lifestyles such as materialism, indecent dressing, the desire for pleasure, pride, popularity and power, which he said were gradually creeping into the church and said every
Christian who wanted to mature into the faith must guard against them.
Reverend Otuo Acheampong tasked Christians to be bold to expose, rebuke and speak against deeds of evil among them, adding that, a member of the church who was guilty of error or hypocrisy must be opposed and rebuked.
