Parliament in January this year, approved the report of the Prof Yaa Ntiamoah-Baidu-led Committee recommending emoluments for the Executive, Judiciary and Legislature, as well as a recommendation that the First Lady and the wife of the Vice President should be paid salary.
Some Ghanaians have expressed varied opinions about the inclusion of the presidential spouses in Article 71 office holders to be paid as Cabinet Ministers.
This has led to some Members of Parliament calling for an overhaul of the arrangement, saying it is unsustainable.
According to MP for North Tongu, Article 71 office holders include the President, Vice President, Ministers, MPs, Heads of Independent Commissions and senior members of the Judiciary.
