Ashanti Regional Minister, Eric Opoku is sending a strong warning to criminals killing and terrorising residents that they will be smoked out and dealt with.
The Ashanti Region has been in the news for some time now because of several incidents of killings and robberies. Residents have expressed worry about the seeming insecurity in the region.
But Regional Minister who is also head of the Security Council says there’s no cause for alarm. He has assured residents police are in total control of the region.
The Minister, however, has no suspicions about recent killings and violent attacks in the region.
“Investigators are on the ground. I was told three days ago that some people have been arrested and investigation is ongoing, so once they are on it and the matter is being pursued then definitely they will get to the bottom of the matter”, the Minister assured.
Meanwhile, the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohamed Ahmed Alhassan, has returned from his tour of the crime scenes in the Ashanti Region.
Joy News has learnt he’s likely to brief the President, John Mahama, on the security situation on Friday.
Government is taking the developing situation in the region very seriously and intends to deal ruthlessly with anyone found to be behind the murders.
