Three suspects have been arrested by the Western Central Regional Police Command in connection with a gold robbery at Wassa Afransie in the Western Region.
The suspects; Felix Adjei, also known as Africa or Nana Adjei; Emmanuel Kelvin, a Nigerian national; and Kofi Appiah, alias Kesse allegedly robbed employees of Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited of gold valued at GH₵199,000.00 and other valuables.
According to preliminary investigations, on April 4, 2025, Kofi Appiah, a driver with the company, and a colleague, Emmanuel Adu, were returning from Wassa Ayiem after collecting gold from a client when armed men emerged from the bush and fired warning shots.
The attackers made away with 14 pounds of gold, two mobile phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla, which was later found abandoned in a nearby community.
Subsequent police investigations led to the arrest of Kofi Appiah at his residence in Wassa Akropong on April 21, 2025. The two other suspects were later picked up from their respective hideouts.
During the operation, police retrieved a Jojeff pump-action gun with butt number 168316, a Calymm PDS pistol without a serial number, 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition, an AA cartridge, two G3 ammunitions, a locally manufactured pistol, and GH₵65,000 in cash suspected to be proceeds from the robbery.
The suspects are currently in custody and assisting police with investigations. They are expected to be put before court to face prosecution.
