The Police in Accra have arrested the driver of the sacked deputy Communications Minister, Victoria Hammah.
Lawrence Quayeson, 34, was picked up following an official complaint lodged by the immediate past deputy minister.
Greater Accra Police PRO, DSP Freeman Tettey confirmed the arrest in an interview with Joy News.
According to him, the police is investigating complaints by Victoria Hammah that the driver secretly recorded her conversation, which leaked and forced the president to sack her.
Hammah was fired 24 hours after the contents of the leaked tape went viral on the media as well as on social networking sites.
The statement which announced her dismissal, gave no reasons but sources told Joy News the dismissal was as a result of the leaked tape.
Hammah was heard telling a friend in the tape that she understood politics and would not take on fights she certainly could not win. She said she would only leave politics if she made a million dollars.
She now suspects the recording was done by her driver and consequently lodged a complaint with the Mile7 police, leading to the arrest of the driver.
Freeman Tettey said the police have taken a caution statement from the driver but were yet to charge him.
He said they were conducting investigations to establish whether secret recording is a crime in the first place and which law the suspect may have offended.
Lawrence Quayeson will soon be granted bail, he hinted.
