Police in Nkwanta North District of the Volta Region have vowed to deal with youth who are destabilising the peace in the area.
The stern warning comes on the back of agitations and acts of vandalism in the district by some youth loyal to governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The irate youth have also vowed not to let peace return to the district unless President John Mahama withdraws the nomination of Paul Levin Djatoh as District Chief Executive (DCE).
25 suspected members of NDC in Kpasa were arrested on August 3, by the Police for their alleged involvement in the vandalism and other disturbances in the town.
The irate suspected supporters of the governing party went on rampage and burnt five of the party’s vehicles
Although most of them were discharged, the Police retained eight persons whom they say played key roles in the violence. However, they have been granted bail to re-appear on August 20.
Even though there are still some pockets of agitations in the town, Volta Regional Police Commander, ACP Fred Agyepong-Asare, says his men are on the ground to ensure peace as well as enforce law and order.
"It is not for me or the Police to dialogue to accept the President's nominee. All that I am doing is making sure nobody takes the law into his own hands", said ACP Agyepong-Asare.
