The Very Reverend Father Philip-Opoku Nyame, Parish Priest of the Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, Pankrono, Kumasi, has reminded political leaders to resolve to play by the rules to make Election 2012, transparent, fair and credible.
He said it was important they learned useful lessons from the unfortunate events in neighbouring Cote d'Ivoire to avoid any dangerous pitfalls.
He said the Electoral Commission (EC) should do everything to make sure that problems that bedevilled the district level elections were not repeated.
Very Rev Father Opoku-Nyame was celebrating the mass at Pankrono to climax the Easter celebration by the church.
He advised the political parties to desist from using hired thugs to intimidate and harass perceived opponents.
He said Ghana had become the beacon of hope to the rest of Africa and this should inspire all to work hard to strengthen its democratic governance through responsible conduct.
Very Rev Father Opoku-Nyame urged Christians to use the Easter period for self-introspection to see where they might have fallen short and to make amends.
They should also pray for peace in all troubled spots of the world.
At the Amakom Saint Paul's Catholic Church, the Rev Father Stephen Opoku counselled the youth to stay away from acts that could be ruinous to their future.
He asked the people to let the period unite and reconcile them not only with God but with one another.
He told them not to become obsessed with earthly possession and wealth but to rather focus on their salvation.
