Political parties have come under heavy criticism from teachers who accuse them of lacking in-depth knowledge of the challenges confronting them.
Yesterday the Ghana National Association of Teachers organized a forum for political parties to offer solutions to address challenges facing the profession.
Although they were unanimous in their commitment to motivate teachers to ensure quality education, some of the teachers who spoke to Joy News after the event said none of the political parties would merit their vote if their presentation yesterday was to be the basis for voting for them in the upcoming elections.
A teacher said none of the parties convinced him that they have a comprehensive plan for the teacher.
He said: “If one of them has said we will give you a seed money, say GH¢500,000 to start the scheme and build houses for teachers, we would have clapped for them. This is what we wanted. They are all saying teachers need to ride in cars, what are they making to get the cars for us, nothing.”
Another unconvinced teacher averred: “No single person has impressed anyone of us.”
