Polling station executives in the Builsa North constituency in the Upper East Region are demanding the disqualification of parliamentary aspirant Listowel Yesu Burkarson.

The polling station executives made the demand in a petition to the vetting committee.

The aspirant, who is also the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), is one of the aspirants to be vetted at the regional capital Bolgatanga.

The executives have leveled numerous accusations against the aspirant and accused him of deceit.

Speaking to Joy News, spokesperson for the polling stations executives, Sunday Amonug said Mr Burkason lied about his age and other requirements and must not be allowed to contest.

He believes that Mr Burkason is above 40 and is only claiming to be below 40 to deceive party members.

“He is claiming to be under 40, that is certainly not true because when I got to Form 1, he was already in Form 5 and I’m now 40  so he is engaging in cheating and the guidelines are clear that if you engage in cheating, you should be disqualified”, he added.

The spokesperson said Mr Burkason has not paid his dues and a person like that cannot be allowed to contest the parliamentary seat on the ticket of the party.

He accused Mr Burkarson of being a traitor because he supported James Agalga, the National Democratic Congress’ candidate during the 2012 elections.

For someone who has not contributed anything to the development of the constituency, Mr Amonug said he the aspirant cannot be allowed to contest the parliamentary primaries.

But Listowel Burkason tells Joy News he has fully satisfied conditions spelt out on the nomination form.

According to him, it was not for the polling executives to determine whether he was qualified to contest the parliamentary seat or not.

He said he is ready to respond to all the issues raised by the polling executives at his vetting in Bolgatanga.
