President Nana Akufo-Addo has congratulated the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisah Djaba for winning the 2018 DUSUSU Africa Gender Minister Award.
“Otiko, congratulations to you. Well done for emerging the winner of the Africa Gender Minister Category,” President Akufo-Addo exclaimed.
The Minister was being recognized by the 2018 Dream Up, Speak Up, Stand Up (DUSUSU) Awards for an African Gender Minister Category for her relentless fight for gender equality and work towards ending child marriage.
The DUSUSU Award is an initiative of Zuriel Elise Oduwole who is a Nigerian American, an education advocate and film maker best known for her works on the advocacy of education in Africa.

She is of Nigerian and Mauritian descent who has fought for girls education across Africa since the age of 10 and has instituted the award to recognize the works, community development efforts and impacts made by Africa's high profile female leaders. Her advocacy has made her the youngest person to be profiled by Forbes.
Zuriel after presenting the award to the Gender Minister at a short ceremony at the Ministry called on Akufo-Addo and presented her new book to him.

Zuriel expressed appreciation to the President and Minister for being dedicated to issues of gender equality. She suggested to the President for the need to collaborate with Hollywood to set up a hub in Ghana for movie productions.
She said it would not only boost the movie industry in Ghana but will also make the country the best location for movie productions in West Africa.
