The pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance has sworn to kick against the nomination of Alfred Vanderpuije as Mayor of Accra Metropolitan Assembly. They accused him of embezzling an amount of $4000 when he was headmaster of a Middle school in Carolina State in US.According to Samuel Awuku spokesperson of the group, Mr. Vanderpuije admitted committing the crime when he was cross examined by the State Carolina Education Board. In conclusion of the case, Mr. Vanderpuije’s conduct was said to be “unprofessional”, “dishonest”, and “evidence of unfitness for the position he was employed.”Mr. Awuku told Joy News Mr. Vanderpuije cannot be trusted with public funds. He said if Mr Vanderpuije was found culpable of embezzling $4000 in a small school in Carolina then it will be suicidal to hand him the job of the mayor of AMA where public funds are disbursed almost on daily basis. When Joy News contacted Mr Vanderpuije for his response, he declined saying he will respond at his own time. The AMA is yet to approve his nomination.
