Ghana Olympic Committee president Professor Francis Dodoo has noted that his outfit are committed to getting more athletes qualify to represent Ghana at the Multi Sport event in Rio.
With just seven months to the games, only one athlete has so far qualified.
With this development, many have called for team Ghana to consider pulling out.
But Professor Dodoo who doubles as president of the Ghana Athletics Association says they will do their best to get more athletes to the games.
“We are committed to making the dream of Ghanaian youth happen, he told Joy Sports.
“We have a healthy set of athletes right now so we are committed to making sure they do best for Ghana right now.”
“As far as we are concerned, it is not time for anybody to make a determination that government is not going to provide any funds.”
“And I will urge people to continue to support for the appropriate funding to come so our athletes can go out and represent us.”
“The G.O.C is not planning to make any determination because we don’t have the fodder to make such a decision.”
Alex Amankwaa is the only athlete to have qualified for the Olympics so far.
