The Progressive People’s Party is proud to field Ghana’s first Presidential Candidate who has made a firm commitment to Incorruptible Leadership and Competence: Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom.
With his ground-breaking commitment to publicly release Tax Returns, Assets, Health Status and Sources of Party Funding on the day he files to become a Presidential Candidate coupled with his firm resolve to pursue a truly progressive set of Constitutional Reforms to allow the direct election of Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chief Executives, Separate the Office of Attorney-General from the Ministry of Justice and prohibit MPs from serving as Ministers of State, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has created a refreshing and historically progressive alternative to the NDC and NPP Presidential Candidates. These other candidates have refused to take up Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom’s challenge on Incorruptible Leadership and Competence, and history will judge them harshly for playing politics-as-usual with Ghanaians’ future.
The Progressive People’s Party exists to bring Progress to Ghana, so we are not content to stop at bringing Ghana its first Presidential Candidate who has made a firm commitment to Incorruptible Leadership and Competence. We are pleased to announce that the PPP, Ghana’s progressive political party is fielding a female Vice-Presidential Candidate!
After a long, rigorous selection process that included qualified men and women, Madam Eva Lokko has been confirmed by the PPP’s National Committee as the Vice-Presidential pick for the December 2012 elections.
Madam Lokko’s character, background and experience are ground breaking in Ghanaian politics. Madam Lokko is an assertive and accomplished professional. She is a family woman who comes from a proud Ga home and tradition. She is fluent in Ga, Hausa, Twi, Fanti, English and Russian with working knowledge of French and has travelled to 44 countries. She has worked for the United Nations, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and operated as the CEO of a critical, youth oriented Non-Governmental Organization.
On top of all that she is an engineer and communications expert with a master’s degree in Intelligent Management Systems, System Analysis and Design. Unlike some Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates in Ghana who shuttle back and forth between government and academia and because they have little or no practical experiences are, when in government are often consigned with inconsequential roles, Madam Lokko has put her education to use with an entrepreneurial spirit, and works to help the people of Ghana directly through any means available to her.
We all know that the youth of Ghana desperately need Jobs. The Progressive People’s Party is fielding a Vice-Presidential Candidate who is currently dedicating her time and expertise to assisting the youth of Ghana find JOBS. As the CEO of Totally Youth, Madam Lokko is a perfect match for Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, whose record of job creation has earned him the affectionate title of “Edwumawura” amongst the people of Ghana. Madam Lokko’s experience as the Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation strengthened her resolve to promote competent incorruptible leadership. Her tenure at the GBC though challenging has strengthened her resolve to be a selfless public servant.
Women are the majority gender in Ghana. They, like teachers, are the NATION BUILDERS of Ghana. They know the first signs of malaria. They teach us our first written words. They impart us the life skills and manners necessary to go out and find a job. Women are the moral backbone of our great nation. Today, the PPP has a bold message for all of the women of Ghana. We appreciate you and what you do for Ghana, and we know that you are critical to Ghana’s progress as a nation. Our selection of Madam Eva Lokko, a competent, incorruptible leader with the skills to deliver improved Education, Healthcare and Jobs to the people shows the Ghanaian people that the Progressive People’s Party is not just talking about Progress – we deliver real progressive change in everything that we do.
But why are we outdooring her here? Ga custom demands that an outdooring and naming ceremony is held. We are outdooring her to give her an appropriate name.
So today, as we announce the selection of Madam Eva Lokko as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Progressive People’s Party, we would like to say this to all women all over Ghana:
If you are a woman, and you are concerned about the quality of your child’s education – Vote for PPP.
If you are a woman, and you are concerned about the lack of jobs which leaves you stuck in a cycle of dependency– Vote PPP.
If you are a woman, and you are concerned about your children, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers falling ill from preventable diseases like malaria and cholera – VOTE FOR PPP.
If you are a woman, and you are tired of being disappointed by the empty promises of the NPP and the NDC, tell your children, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers not to waste their vote on the parties that have disappointed us for 20 years – TELL THEM THEY MUST VOTE FOR PPP.
Any Ghanaian, male or female, can see that it is only the Progressive People’s Party that is interested in bringing true change to Ghana. We are proud to announce our Vice Presidential Pick of Ms. Eva Lokko and we hope that the other parties will agree to holding a public, Vice-Presidential debate including a female candidate.
WE ARE AWAKE!
Kofi Asamoah-Siaw
National Secretary
