Ghana’s young and fantastic music trio, R2Bees Friday launched their much-awaited maiden album at the forecourt of Groove Control Nite Club, Tema.
R2Bees, made up of Pay Day, Mugeez and Under hit the Ghanaian showbiz industry with the singles ‘I dey Mad’ and ‘Yawa Girl’ last year and instantly became household names.
But the childhood collaborators appear more fulfilled with the launch of the 17-track album ‘Da Revolution’ which has already released songs; ‘Yawa Girl’, I dey Mad’, ‘T.E.M.A’, ‘Kiss Your Hand’ with new songs; ‘Radio’, ‘One more Chance’ and ‘Africa’. The album features music stars; Wande Coal, Sarkodie, Samini, Kwaw Kese and a host of others.
The well patronized event saw hundreds of music fans and popular personalities Bola Ray, Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD), Amanda Jisseh, DJ Black and music stars; Tinny, Sarkodie, Chemphe, Samini, Kwaw Kese, Tic Tac, Ayigbe Edem, Black Prophet, Quata and many others in attendance.
The launch which was a star-studded affair saw underground and popular stars mounting the open air stage to entertain patrons.
R2Bees in an interview with Myjoyonline.com said the album should have been out a bit earlier but was delayed due to certain challenges. But they now count the delay a blessing because it has enabled them to add new songs to the album.
“Certain things didn’t go our way as we expected and we didn’t plan the whole thing early - like making music our career. The new song featuring Wande Coal, let’s say if we had released the album somewhere last year, this song wouldn’t have been on the album. Every misfortune is a blessing,” Pay Day said.
The trio said they are not looking at releasing another album in the immediate. “Every song on this album is a single material, meaning, we just have to take our time and promote the album.”
R2Bees look to the future with much enthusiasm, counting on their collective talents to see them through the years, and hope that the sky becomes their first step, and not their limit.
