La Liga holders Barcelona have confirmed that midfielder Rafinha has been ruled out for four months following surgery on his right knee.
Rafinha had to come off in the first half of the 3-1 victory over Granada on Sunday and the club confirmed that it was an injury to his meniscus.
They have now released a statement saying that he underwent surgery on Friday and will be out for four months.
This will rule him out for the rest of the season and will probably mean he won't be ready for the start of the 2017-18 season.
Rafinha came up through the youth system with his brother Thiago, who later moved to Bayern Munich, and this season he had made 28 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals.
This is the second successive season where Rafinha has suffered a serious injury, having torn his ACL last season.
