Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has told four European clubs, who are keen on engaging him for the upcoming season, that he is not interested in joining them.
The Serbian has attracted interest from two unnamed clubs in home country while an Italian Serie A side and Spanish top-flight club have also approached his agent.
This comes after the coach’s terrific work with Ghana which has revived the Black Stars, putting them on the verge of an unprecedented smooth ride to the World Cup finals in South Africa.
The clubs are keen on Rajevac for as early as next month for pre-season but the Serbian has told them he is with Ghana for the long haul.
“I can confirm that some four clubs in Europe this week approached my agent to ask me to join them as soon as possible,” Rajevac told journalists.
“My agent already knows that I came to Ghana with the ultimate aim of improving the game in the country from local football to the international level.
“I am only at the beginning stage of this plan and from what I have seen here the players are eager to learn and the administration and fans are eager to support me.
“For me, there is absolutely no attraction for me to leave this wonderful project as I can make the same impact here as I would make anywhere in the world.
“I am not interested in any European club. The prospect of the African Cup of Nations in Angola and the World Cup in 2010 is bigger for me than coaching a club in Europe.”
The Serbian has made a huge impact in Ghana in less than a year in charge as he took the less fancied local Black Stars to the final of the African Nations Championship in Ivory Coast in February.
The main Black Stars team is enjoying its finest ever start in the World Cup qualifiers as they sit top of Group D with maximum nine points from three matches.
Ghana could qualify for the 2010 World Cup by as early as September if they beat Sudan at home and the other group game between Benin and Mali ends in a draw.
Despite the impressive record, Rajevac says there is still more to be done with the Black Stars.
“We have just started a futuristic project and I know we can achieve more here with Ghana with all the wonderful and obedient players I have,” he said.
“The results so far are good but we are not complacent because we know the real work of moulding the Black Stars into true world beaters is just beginning.
“Majority of the people in Ghana have shown me warmth that I have not seen anywhere in the world and I have a duty of meeting their dreams with results on the pitch.”
