The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) is meeting with chiefs from Nankpanduri and Bunkprugu to explore avenues of ending disturbances in their respective communities.
The Interior Minister on the advice of the REGSEC yesterday, imposed a dawn to dusk curfew on the area.
This follows violent clashes in nearby East Mamprusi District, between the Mamprusis and the Bimobas that claimed three lives with several properties destroyed.
Speaking to Joy News' Seth Kwame Boateng, the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru says the problem there must be treated purely as a criminal issue instead of putting ethnic connotations to it.
The conflict communities, which experienced these perennial problems, had negotiations on a road map to peace organized by the West Africa Network for Peace (WANEP) stalled.
The regional minister, who is also chairman of REGSEC, insisted that the issue should be investigated by the security agencies and the law enforced.
Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru therefore warned against linking ethnic differences to the conflict situation, noting that it inflames passion and does not allow for lasting solutions to the conflicts since those engaged in the communal conflict get back at each other again.
He has therefore indicated that enough security personnel have been deployed into the conflict communities to ensure that the place is calm.
This, he noted, would enable investigators explore the situation and get the culprits arrested to face the full rigours of the law.
