A retired Police Chief Inspector, has caused the arrest and prosecution of his 25-year-old son at the Mpraeso Circuit Court charged with assault, stealing and causing damage.
Jude Agyemang, the son, who appeared in court on Thursday, pleaded not guilty to the charge and had been remanded in police custody for two weeks.
Detective Police Chief Inspector Christian Apronti, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Alex Owusu Ofori that the complainant, Kofi Asare, returned from Koforidua on May 2, this year and realized that his son had set fire to the mosquito net of his window after quarreling with the mother.
He said the fire destroyed two doors and broke some louver blades.
He said on May 9, this year, Agyemang attacked and assaulted his father and took away a gas cooker and a gas cylinder worth GH¢170 from his residence at Kwamang near Nkawkaw.
When the Presiding Judge asked Agyemang why he had been assaulting his own parents and causing damage to their properties, he said they were always preventing him from "disciplining" his younger sister, who poured acid on his left eye, years ago.
He would reappear at the court on June 8, 2010.
