There’s a nice setting ahead of next Sunday’s Glo Premier League clash between rivals Hearts of Oak and Kotoko in Kumasi.
Hearts of Oak were impressive in their 3-0 win over Wa All Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Two goals from Uriah Asante and Douglas Nkrumah put Hearts in front before the twentieth minute mark. A second half substitute Edwin Osei completed the rout with a superb drive from inside the box for the third goal.
Hearts are now sixth on the league table and have peaked for the clash against Kumasi Asante Kotoko, but head coach Paa Kwesi Fabin said he is remaining cautious.
He said football is a game of uncertainties “and we are just preparing to go there and give a good account of ourselves.”
All Stars head coach Maxwell Konadu believes his side were unlucky on the day and admits they lost to the better side.
In Kumasi, struggling King Faisal handed Kumasi Asante Kotoko their first defeat ahead of their meeting with Hearts of Oak with a 3-2 win. King Faisal’s George Annan opened the scoring in the 9th minute while Ali Wahab and Samuel Adade added the second and third in the 39th and 44th minute respectively.
Alex Asamoah pulled one back on the stroke of half time before Daniel Nii Adjei got the second five minutes to end play but that was not enough to save the Porcupine Warriors.
A visibly distraught Kotoko Coach, Ebo Mends could not hide his frustration after the game.
Meanwhile King Faisal's stop–gap Coach, Henry Wellington said the victory was no fluke because they worked for it.
Elsewhere, two early goals from Edubiase striker, Stephen Manu ensured that New Edubiase moved to fifth place on the league table after beating Chelsea of Bechem by 2-0 in Bekwai.
In Dormaa, defending Champions Aduana Stars struggled to draw 1-1 with Ebusua Dwarfs while Arsenals defeated Tudu Mighty Jets 2-1 at the Golden City Park.
Heart of Lions lost 1-0 at home to visitors, Ashgold with Yakubu Mohammed getting the winner for the Miners in the 20th minute.
In Tamale, RTU and Liberty Professional settled for a goalless draw while Kessben Medeama extended their lead on the league table with a 3-1 win over B.A Stars in Essipong.
