It’s hard to imagine a more anticipated forthcoming LP than Rihanna’s resolution. But the Barbadian singer has largely been hush, hush about its release.
That said, RiRi may be giving fans their first hint that 2021 could be a big year for her. While ringing in the new year, she took to Instagram to post a picture of herself with the caption, “new year’s resolution: apply the pressure.”
This, of course, riled up followers, who posted comments, including one who wrote, “Resolution should be releasing the album.” This prompted Rihanna to initially reply, “this comment is sooo 2019, grow up.” But as the same comment thread got rolling, she doubled back and responded to another person with a laughing face, flex emojis and the text, “2021 energy.”
Rihanna has infamously pushed back against fan's request for new music. She even told Entertainment Tonight last February that she likes to antagonize her fans a little bit because “they antagonize me, too! So, they get it right back."
In September, Skylar Grey shared a snippet of a song she says she worked on with Diplo for Rihanna’s album. Grey says she and Diplo collaborated on the song “when Rihanna was supposedly doing some kind of reggae album.
In December 2019, Rihanna shared a video on IG that got fans excited where she appeared to hint at the project.
Update: me listening to R9 by myself and refusing to release it, she captioned the post with a clip of a small white dog dancing to House of Pain’s hit single, 'Jump Around'.
Could 2021 be the year Rihanna sets the music world on fire? Guess we’ll have to see.
