Dr J.A Amoateng, Ashanti Regional First Vice Chairman of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), has called on the hierarchy of the party to be bold and sack Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, the party’s MP for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem constituency from the party.
In a statement issued in Kumasi on Friday, Dr Amoateng said the “conduct of Dr Nduom and some others within the top echelon of the party leave much to be desired”.
He said Dr Nduom had over the years caused a lot of breaches of the party constitution, by constantly campaigning openly for the presidential candidate of another party.
“He has at one time called for the removal of the National Executives, which is tantamount to a coup d’etat within the party. Besides, all those who have been taking the party to court throughout these years have been from his stable. It has always been the same group who have also been breaching the constitution with their court actions”, he emphasized.
Dr. Amoateng described the reason given by Dr. Nduom to form a new political party as bewildering.
He said it was hypocritical on the part of Dr. Nduom who had accused some members in the party of not realizing the need for unity talks with other like–minded groups of the Nkrumaist tradition, to decide to form another party.
Dr. Amoateng asked whether the action of Dr. Nduom would achieve the unity that he wanted in the party or would further compound that problem and stated that, all that Dr Nduom wanted was to destabilize the party to achieve his own ends.
He asked the party hierarchy to call a spade a spade and rid the party of such opportunists to ensure peace and harmony in the party.
