The Africa Scrabble championship begins in Ghana today at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel.
Reigning Champions Nigeria led by current African champion Jighere Wellington arrived last night to defend the title they won last year in Kenya.
Team Ghana will join eight other English Speaking African countries to contest for the total prize money of $30,000.
Star player of Ugandan team, Chris Ntege told Joy Sports his side is determined to become new continental champions.
He said although the team recognizes that it will be tough given the strength of the Nigerian and Ghanaian teams, members are determined to surprise everybody.
