The Supreme Council for Sports in Africa (SCSA) have congratulated Ghana’s President John Kufuor on his election as the President of the African Union in Addis Ababa.
A message signed by Sonstone Y. Kashiba, Secretary General of the SCSA, copied to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports said the Council, a specialized agency of the Union pertaining to sports development, "Is happy to continue its work under your Presidency and to help consolidate cooperation ties between the Union and its Pan African sports body for the betterment of sport".
"Your Excellency, as you settle into your new challenging position, I look forward to meeting you in order to give you the current status of the organisation".
The message said that as the President embarks on the onerous task that come with the exalted office, "you may wish to know that 2007 is very important to this organisation as the continent will be organising the 9th All Africa Games themed “The Unity Games” from July 11 to 23 in Algiers, Algeria.
It said the Games held every four years, would bring together sports Men and Women to compete in 25 sport disciplines from member countries.
The message concluded by informing the AU President that for the first time in the history of the Games, there will equally be an important Youth Camp.
