The special aide to the President, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, says Dr Sekou Nkrumah begged him to be allowed to speak on the NDC’s campaign platform during the 2008 General Elections.
According to Nii Lantey, he even had to prompt Dr Nkrumah on what to say and what not to say on the campaign platform, daring the dismissed Acting Coordinator of the National Youth Council to deny the claim.
The third son of Ghana’s first President Dr Kwame Nkrumah, who was sacked from office barely a week after he publicly criticised the government, has again stated that he regrets campaigning for the ruling government during the last general elections, adding that President Mills does not deserve a second term of office.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme Monday, the President’s special aide stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not need Sekou’s endorsement to retain power because God has already anointed President Mills.
He questioned whether Sekou has made any impact on Ghana’s political landscape, adding that if he thinks he has what it takes to change anything in the country’s political history, then he should get himself a constituency and probably stand on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and contest a Parliamentary seat.
Ms Ursula Owusu, who was a co-panelist on the programme, cautioned the ruling administration saying “he who the gods will destroy, they first make proud”.
She added that the arrogance of power within the NDC government has blinded them to the extent that they cannot even see or hear the cry and plight of Ghanaians.
She assured the government that the time was coming when Ghanaians will demonstrate whether or not their needs have been met by this administration and that they [Ghanaians] will do so in a manner as resounding as did the NPP delegates in electing their flag-bearer.
