A seven-member committee headed by Alhaji Mohammed Nurudeen Dawuda Jawula has been formed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to run the revived FA Cup Knock-out Competition.
The former chairman of the GFA will be assisted by Jamil Miraby, formerly of Secondi Eleven Wise, Kurt E. Okraku, Administrative Manager of the Ghana League Clubs Association of Ghana (GHALCA), Eddie Doku, Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GRFA), Kwame Baah-Nuako International Relations Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kofi Manu and Albert Commey, Public Relations Officer of Accra Hearts of Oak.
Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the GFA disclosed this to the press during the presentation of GH¢45,000 and MTN products to his outfit by the headline sponsors of the event, MTN Ghana on Tuesday.
The amount covers 50 percent of the total sponsorship package of One million Ghana cedis for the 2010/11 Knock-out competition, which is scheduled to commence in December this year.
MTN Ghana is sponsoring the event for three million Ghana cedis, with each year attracting one million Ghana cedis.
According to Mr. Nyantakyi, the committee will fashion out modalities for the organisation of the competition, which has been absent from the football calendar for almost ten years.
He said the committee will also deal with petty problems that arise out of the organization of the event.
Mr. Nyantakyi said the composition of the committee gives the conviction they will deliver to expectation, by adding value to the event to attract more sponsors in the future.
He said the sponsors will derive the maximum benefits from the competition, because it is bigger than the Premier League since it has a large number of participating teams.
Mr. Nyantakyi added that the competition is also expected to bring the best out of the participating teams because the smaller clubs will seek to undo the established ones in the premiership, which he described as the surprise component of the event.
