A police sergeant at Nkawkaw was nearly lynched at Asuogya, when he was caught red-handed having sex with the wife of a popular taxi driver, in the early hours of Saturday August 17, 20 11.
The sergeant works at the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.
Credible reports indicated that the police sergeant (name withheld) was on night duties but sneaked from post to ‘bonk’ the wife of the taxi driver on her matrimonial bed.
It was not known whether the policeman had any ‘undercover’ amorous relationship with the wife of the taxi driver, a beautiful woman by all standards in her early 20’s, identified only as Joyce.
According to sources, Kwame Dzito, the taxi driver, also in his late 20’s, reportedly told his wife that he was going to do night ‘rounds’ on that fateful day.
The source explained that in the absence of the taxi driver, the policeman, who was in his police uniform and on night duty, decided to check ‘faulty vehicles’ in the taxi driver’s room.
According to the source, around 2:00.a.m when the policeman was busy ‘bonking’ Joyce, the taxi driver returned home unannounced.
The source explained that it was not known whether somebody had given a hint about the presence of the policeman in his room or whether it was by coincidence, but as soon as Dzito arrived, he went to his door clutching a pestle and started banging on the door furiously.
The source explained that it took about three minutes for the trembling wife to open the door, only for the husband to find the police sergeant loosely dressed with beads of sweat on his face and body.
The source said Dzito, who could hardly contain his anger, hit the policeman on the neck with the pestle before raising an alarm.
The policeman, sensing danger, quickly dashed out of the scene to avoid disgrace, leaving behind his ‘top’ uniform and an amount of GH¢80 which was found in one of the pockets of the uniform.
Dzito used the uniform and money as evidence and reported the matter to the Nkawkaw Divisional Commander, ACP Kofi Asare.
The police sergeant, after being questioned, reportedly admitted to the offence and called for a peaceful resolution of the case.
The driver reportedly asked for a compensation of about GH¢6,000, but the case was still ‘hanging’ as no compromise had been reached.
Joyce, the taxi driver’s wife, had unceremoniously left her matrimonial home and could not be found.
Reports said she had gone to her parents’ house at Kwahu Praso, while some were of the view that she could not be traced because of the disgrace she had brought upon herself.
