At least six banks effective today have reduced their base rates. Whilst Stanbic is offering 26.7 percent, Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) has set its new base rate at 26 percent, down from 28.75.
Standard Chartered Bank also has 25.5 percent for its customers and that of Bank of Baroda is 26.75 percent.
It is believed the remaining banks yet to revise their rates following the reduction in the Bank of Ghana prime rate and Treasury Bill rates will by the end of this week do so.
The Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) which until now had announced the lowest base rate of 24.75 percent has since been beaten by SG-SSB with 24.5 percent.
