Jurors are deliberating the fate of a North Texas man who admitted to killing his mistress after he discovered she was hiding an HIV diagnosis, reports the Dallas Morning News.
Larry Dunn, 37, testified Wednesday that he had been cheating on his wife with Cicely Bolden in September of 2012 when she told him she was HIV positive, reports the paper. A week later, Dunn reportedly stabbed her in the neck with a kitchen knife at her home after the two argued about why she hadn't told him she had the disease.
"In my mind, I'm already dead," Dunn reportedly said in a confession video prosecutors played for jurors Tuesday. "She killed me, so I killed her."
The two had had unprotected sex multiple times before Bolden told Dunn she was HIV-positive, reports the paper.
Dunn reportedly pleaded guilty to the killing Wednesday and the trial moved into a sentencing phase. Jurors must decide whether Dunn acted in "sudden passion" or planned to kill Bolden. Dunn says he didn't plan the murder.
If jurors rule he acted with "sudden passion," Dunn reportedly faces two to 20 years. He faces life is the jury finds he planned the murder.
Although Dunn believed he had contracted the virus from Bolden, he has yet to test positive.
