A Head Pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor Augustine Donkor, has advised husbands to show respect to their wives during sexual intercourse.
He said many people in society have a misconstrued belief that sex is to be endured by women and enjoyed by men. According to the Bible, he said, God created sex as a 'gift' for the pleasure of both partners.
Pastor Donkor was speaking at a marriage seminar on Saturday as part of activities marking the just ended Joy FM Beauty and Bridal Fair at the International Conference Centre.
Thousands of Ghanaians took part in what is arguably Ghana's biggest bridal show. The four-day fair started on Thursday 1st July 2010.
Speaking on the topic ‘Sexual Responsibilities in Marriage’, the Pastor explained that husbands and wives have different sexual expectations, thus, every good husband should take note of this and learn to adjust to that of his wife.
He bemoaned the practice whereby some men demand sex from their wives even during their menstrual period, advising that “Do not make her a sex tool.”
Pastor Donkor cautioned against the use of the anus for sex, emphasizing that “the anus is not for sex – God created every part of the body for a purpose”.
“Allow freedom of expression in the bedroom,” he advised, adding that husbands should praise their wives and be sensitive to their inconsistencies in bed.
He also advised women to initiate sex activities because doing so makes their husbands feel needed and wanted.
He urged women to dress appropriately to look attractive to their husbands and respond to their lovemaking advances, warning that women should desist from using sex as a weapon against their husbands.
The National Programme Coordinator of Women In Law and Development In Africa (WILDAF), Mrs Bernice Sam, advised parents to protect their children, especially those who have disabilities.
She said the discipline that parents give their children should commensurate with their wrong doing, cautioning against permissiveness and inconsistencies in disciplinary rules.
