Heptathlete Magaret Simpson, would take up a course in coaching after ending his career on a field that had seen her as one of the nation's successful athletes.Simpson, who won gold in the Women Heptathlon at the 10th All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique, is among the few athletes who are being considered for future coaching roles by the National Sports Authority (NSA).Worlanyo Agra, Director General of the NSA who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Sports said his outfit is seeking to increase the strength of its technical department in the near future and Simpson is one of the candidates being considered for that role.He said the athlete has over the years demonstrated her strength in the sport and exhibited the highest quality with great exploits on the international scene and looks good for a programme in coaching."Such a person can share her great experience with future athletes, identify and groom talents to take over from her so we (Ghana) must make good use of her."We need more of such people to help develop sports in Ghana and she would be given the needed assistance to undergo the course,” The NSA boss noted. However, this dream may materialise possibly after the next four to six years as Simpson, 30, has already set eyes on an Olympic success after the historic feat at the AAG.Barring any injuries, Simpson, may seek honours in three more continental events - Commonwealth Games, All Africa Games and Brazil Olympics in 2016, after participating in London 2012.She told the GNA Sports that she is nursing some injuries and expects to be healed to get her prepared for the Olympic Games in London next year.
