The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie will on Monday appear before the committee set up by the Chief Justice to investigate allegations that the verdict of 2012 Presidential Election Petition was compromised.
The NPP scribe petitioned the Chief Justice to investigate the content of a leaked tape on which sacked Deputy Communications Minister Victoria Hamah was heard praising Womens, Gender and Children Protection Minister Nana Oye Lithur, for meeting the Election Petition Panel on the eve of the verdict, ostensibly to secure the verdict in favour of the governing National Democratic Congress.
Oye Lithur has vehemently denied meeting any of the justices who sat on the case.
The denial notwithstanding, the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood set up a seven-member committee chaired by Dr Justice F.K. Date-Baah to investigate the veracity of the claim in the tape.
The NPP insists the allegations in the tape have far reaching implications on Ghana's jurisprudence if not investigated.
They charged the Chief Justice to get to the bottom of the allegations.
Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, will make an appearance before the committee on Monday to clearly state the case of the party's petition.
Victoria Hamah is also expected to make an appearance before the committee.
