Mr K. A. Kissi, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia, will not seek re-election in this year’s Parliamentary election, following his failure to submit his nomination papers before the deadline on Tuesday, April 1, 2008.
The MP who has served for two consecutives terms in Parliament, collected nomination forms for the Constituency’s primary after paying the required GH¢200 fee, but was unable to meet the deadline for the filing of nominations, Mr Joe Danso, the Constituency Secretary told the Ghana News Agency at Akwatia on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, two persons, Dr Kofi Asante, Ashanti Regional Director of Health Service and Mr Kofi Owusu Ankama, an Electrical Contractor, had both filed their nominations to contest the seat on the ticket of the party.
In the Kade Constituency, three persons would challenge the incumbent MP, Mr Asamoah Ofosu who is also the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister.
They are, the Presiding Member of the Kwaebibirem District Assembly, Mr George Aboagye, who is also the District Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, Mr Ankomah Kwakye, a Chemical Engineer and Mr Collins Offeh, an Accountant.
