Six people, including Mr Ato Essuman, the immediate past Central Regional representative on the Council of State, and three officials in the first NDC regime had filed nomination papers to be elected as the region’s representative on the Council, at the close of nominations on Tuesday,
Mr Essuman 55, a management consultant is vying for the position with Barima Atta Panyin, also known as Mr Sam Pee Yalley, 55, a legal practitioner, and Mr Abraham Kwaku Fokuo, 61, a retired educationist, and former district secretaries for Cape Coast and Assin districts respectively, during the first NDC regime.
The rest are, Nana Nkwantabisa, III, 59, known in private life as Mr Michael Amponsah, chief of Twifu-Nyinase, and former NDC secretary for the Twifo-Hemang-lower Denkyira district, Nana Kwamena Ansah IV, 71, Omanhene of Eguaafo traditional area and former president of the Regional House of Chiefs and Mr Attila Frank Lamadoku, 30, an educationist.
Mr Samuel Tettey, Regional Director of the Electoral Commission told the GNA, that the six filed their papers at the close of nominations at 1700hrs.
The election of the region’s representative is scheduled for Tuesday, February 10.
