National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential hopeful, Sylvester Mensah, has called on the overlord of Mamprugu and his elders, to officially inform them of his intention to lead the party.
The call on the Nayiri, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, by the former Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) was also to announce his campaign tour of the Northern and Upper West Regions.
Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga admonished Mr. Mensah to focus on his message of "unified party, rewarding loyalty and prosperity for all" to the grassroots of the party, in his quest to lead the NDC.
At Walewale, where he met with executives of Walewale and Yagaba Kubori constituencies, Mr. Mensah said his vision for the party is to see a unified party that rewards its followers and ensure prosperity for its rank and file.
He added that the time for change is now, pointing to the fact that, “what the party needs now is a new face, new leader, new vision, new mindset and a new set of relationships and engagements” that will inspire hope towards the 2020 victory with him as leader.
Mr. Mensah continued with his message when he met with executives of Nalerigu who embraced the agenda for a new leader, new direction and a unified party for victory 2020.
The team arrived to a warm reception by executives of Bukpurugu and Yunyoo. Mr. Mensah was led by the executives of the two constituencies to pay a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Bimoba Traditional Area, Alhaji Abuba Nasinmong.
Speaking to the team, Alhaji Abuba commended Mr. Mensah for his bold decision to offer himself for leadership and subsequently lead the country. He wished him well and ask for God’s guidance and protection for Mr. Mensah.
