Workers of two small-scale mining companies clashed underground in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, injuring themselves during the brawl.
The Western Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP) Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, told the Ghana News Agency at Sekondi that the injured were issued with police medical forms to go to hospital for treatment.
She said Mr Joe Manu; an administrator of Steajoan Small-Scale Mining Group at Tarkwa, reported to the Police on May 9, that some workers of Wobedibi Small-Scale Mining Group attacked their workers underground.
She said Police arrested Moro Salam and Charles Abudu of Wobedidi Mining Ground, however, the suspects were bleeding from their heads when arrested, and were later granted bail.
The suspects would soon be arraigned before court for causing harm and possessing firearms without authority, the PRO added.
The Police retrieved one locally manufactured pistol with two live cartridges from the scene, and had since mounted investigations into the matter.
