The National Sports Council has promised to ensure adequate security in Sunday’s Glo Premier League game between Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The council, custodian of the national stadia, says it will put lessons learned from previous meetings between the two sides to good use on Sunday.
The Spokesperson for the National Sports Council, Hamid Hammah Isaaka, said every effort was being made to ensure that the match is incident-free.
He said portions of the security fence of the stadium which are often used by miscreants to foment trouble had been identified and will be blocked to prevent trouble-makers from having access to such areas.
Meanwhile, board member of Asante Kotoko Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, has told Joy Sports the team is determined to avenge last season’s 1-0 defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium.
