Stanbic, GREDA housing fair launched

As part of efforts to reduce the housing deficit in the country, Stanbic Bank in partnership with Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) has launched a housing fair in Accra.

The fair to be held on 6th and 7th December at Polo Court in Accra is to provide mortgage services at flexible rates to prospective home owners and customers of the bank.

The housing fair will also have auto dealers and consumer finance companies at the fair grounds to offer patrons a one-stop shop.

Head of Personal and Business Banking at Stanbic Bank, Nana Benneh said the decision for the partnership is borne out of increasing demand for homes primarily by the middle class and people of other income brackets in the country.

“The sector is an area with potential growth. We are offering consumers the various options that allow them to finance their dream homes. This fair is not only about housing. It also gives the opportunity for consumers to have access to the requisite knowledge on all things housing,” he noted.

He revealed that Ghana’s housing deficit is around 1.7 million units and the task of providing affordable housing over 10 years requires a minimum of 170,000 annually.

Based on this backdrop, Nana Benneh said Stanbic Ghana is committed to help bridge the gap and provide decent accommodation to Ghanaians through the partnership with GREDA.

For his part, Executive Secretary of GREDA, Samuel Amegayibor commended Stanbic bank for identifying the challenges of housing in the country.

“We have had situations where we have fairs and participants lament the price restrictions, but Stanbic Bank is offering unlimited access. So it depends on your ability to pay,” he said.

Samuel Amegayibor urged the public to take advantage of the fair to fulfil their dreams of owning a home.
