The Ghana Statistical Service says it will announce the provisional results of last year’s census today after a news conference called on Monday for the same purpose was cancelled. The service has come under heavy criticism with some opposition NPP figures suggesting the program was cancelled to allow for manipulation. But Communications Officer for the Census Secretariat Michael Adu-Gyamfi told Joy News the allegation is absolutely false and baseless.“We at the statistical service are not going to allow any politician to influence us neither are we going to allow any political group to influence what we are doing,” he stated. He said the program has been scheduled for today because the difficulties that led to the cancellation have since been addressed.Source: Joy News/Ghana
