Some personnel of the Ghana Statistical Service have refused to relocate to regions they have been transferred to.The personnel, numbering about 120, say although they are willing to work in other regions, the reasons and conditions stated in their transfer letters are dubious.Their bosses indicate that their transfers are supposed to facilitate the upcoming population census.Union chairman, Robert Mensah says transfers for censuses are usually temporary but it seems that is not the case this time around.According to him, the authorities have promised to provide new accommodation for the workers who have been transferred, something Mr Mensah believes is not done during temporary transfers.“If it's temporary transfer they don’t give you transfer grants and they don’t transfer family and goods as well."He said the workers are taking the transfers with a “pinch of salt” and are threatening to resign or resist the transfer.Source: Joy News/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
