Stratcomm Africa launches 9th edition of Ghana Garden and Flower Show

The ninth edition of the Ghana Garden and Flower Show (GGFS) has been launched with a call on all stakeholders to see Green Living as a collective responsibility and take up innovative and responsible ways to protect the environment.

GGFS is the flagship event of the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement, an initiative of Strategic Communications Africa (Stratcomm Africa) and is aimed at promoting horticulture and floriculture in Ghana, as well as creating awareness about the commercial, environmental, health and aesthetic benefits of flowers and gardens.

This year's show with the theme: “9G: 9 Years of Green Living", is aimed at celebrating nine years of championing the green living agenda, while promoting positive attitudes and behaviours towards green living.

The 2021 GGFS will run for five days from August 25 to August 29, 2021, at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.

The event is expected to showcase innovative products ranging from plants/flowers, garden tools, garden ornaments, flower pots, soil conditioners, agrochemicals, garden-inspired fashion, garden furniture, cosmetics and other green living related products and services.

The 2021 Show was launched during the maiden edition of the Ghana Garden and Flower Pop Up Show held at City Hall, Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Kinbu Gardens. The Pop Up Show saw the display of a wide range of flora, with various gardening ornaments by thirty-four exhibitors.

Speaking at the event, Mawuko Afadzinu, the guest speaker and Head of Communication of Stanbic Bank, a major sponsor of GGFS reiterated the importance of preserving our environment.

He noted that plants and flowers form a major part of our environment. “When we plant more, we grow more. The environment is all we have, and it is our duty to preserve it,” he added.

Mr. Afadzinu also said that Accra stands a good chance of becoming one of the cleanest cities in Ghana and the world as a whole, and charged all to contribute to preserving the ecosystem.

He congratulated the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement, exhibitors and participants for remaining passionate about green living.

Addressing the media and some other stakeholders, the CEO of Stratcomm Africa, Esther A. N. Cobbah, stated that it is everybody’s responsibility to ensure a greener, cleaner, wealthier, healthier, richer and more beautiful country.
