Family members of a 60 year old man alleged to have shot and killed his own daughter in Suame, Kumasi are demanding his release from police custody.
Akwasi Poku, a member of a community watchdog committee on Monday had his loaded single-barreled gun go off, killing his 19-year-old daughter in the process.
Reports say he was dragging the deceased from an obsure corner at night when the incident occured.
He has since been arrested and assisting with police investigations.
But the family members, wailing and mourning the death of their relative are also concerned about the future of the accused person.
Mother of the deceased and husband to the accused told Joy News the incident was purely an accident.
According to Madam Afua Konadu, her husband could not have deliberately shot the daughter because she (deceased) was the most cherished of the 12 children they have.
A sister of the deceased said jailing her father will have dire consequences on the family.
According to her, the accused person is the bread winner of the family and prayed the police to temper justice with mercy.
