Suddenly NPP shifts the goal post

The peace and authenticity surrounding the 2012 Presidential Election was broken when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the man who has never won any national election, decided to act as a sore loser and contest the results at the Supreme Court (SC). When Akufo-Addo and Co eventually filed their petition before the SC, they told the whole world that they have found some irregularities; therefore, they were calling on the SC to annul over 4.6 million votes in order to declare Akufo-Addo the president-elect. That was the stand of Akufo-Addo who was ably goaded on by some NPP hirelings who stand to gain if they won the case. At the SC, you will not miss Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the NPP’s star witness who daily calls for the annulment of millions of votes so that he would, maybe he would also be crowned the vice president elect. That has always been the stand of the NPP since the nine justices of the SC begun hearing the case. But something changed during the hearing at the SC on Tuesday May 7, 2013. That was when Mr Tsatsu Tsikata suddenly cornered Bawumia and intentionally asked if he would agree to allow other irregularities that may be found outside the evidence that the NPP have presented to the SC to be annulled. Bawumia who has developed the penchant of not allowing questions being asked to be completed before answering them, immediately answered in the affirmative without thinking through the question. This singular act by Bawumia sent panic waves across the NPP bench as they unsuccessfully sought the help of the justices three times to prevent Mr Tsikata from asking questions about other pink sheets other than the ones they have presented as evidence in court. Even when the justices kept overruling the objections raised by the NPP, they still will not relent. Never in the history of the court of law in Ghana has a counsel raised three challenges to rulings of the justices. This behaviour by Mr Philip Addison, counsel for the NPP, constitute contempt of court, but he escaped without being charged by the court. The NPP folks felt very unhappy about the ruling which has now paved the way for the NDC to pour into pink sheets from NPP strongholds notably the Eastern and Ashanti Regions to determine if we have the same entry mistakes by the presiding officers. In their initial interviews after the court adjourned, the NPP felt so flat and crestfallen that their demeanour showed it all. But within hours after the court adjourned, the NPP who have been asking the SC to throw away 4.6 million genuine votes from NDC strongholds in order to crown Akufo-Addo president, suddenly changed their tune or shifted the goal post. The NPP are now calling for a re-run of the 2012 Presidential Election, falsely claiming that the NDC supports that agenda. This is an act of desperation from desperate folks who want to desperately gain power at all cost. The call by the NDC to bring to the notice of the justices some entry mistakes on the pink results sheets from polling stations in the NPP strongholds does not mean that the NDC is calling for a re-run of the election. The NDC is simply aiming to expose the dishonesty of the NPP who want the votes of 4.6 million Ghanaians to be thrown away for no genuine reasons. magjackson80@yahoo.com http://majjacks80.blogspot.com
