Subscribers of 4G Internet Service Provider, SURFLINE will have to wait until an assessment of the fire outbreak at the company’s data centre is completed before their service is restored.
Fire gutted the internet operator’s data center in Tema on Sunday 1 February, 2015. Even though there was no casualty, there is no service on many parts of its network.
The Branding and Communications Manager, Edwin Amoako says they have begun assessing the extent of damage after containing the fire.
“There had been some fluctuation in the power at the source at Tema within the day. So at about 4pm, light came on and we detected there was some fire at the Power Back-Up room.
The Fire Service responded quickly and fortunately for the company, the situation was contained. We are yet to complete that assessment.
"Currently, we have an outage on most parts of the network and subscribers would not be able to access most parts of the network within the Accra and Tema regions. We are working very hard to make sure that our network is back up so that our customers do not face any inconvenience” he said.
