A 28-year-old Primary Six Teacher of the Jejereyiri Primary School in Wa, who poured hot water on the buttocks of a 14-year old girl to compel her to have sex with him was on Monday sentenced to 14 years imprisonment by a Wa Circuit Court.
The accused, Ubaidu Ali also used a razor blade to inflict wounds on the back and sole of the girl’s feet and succeeded in defiling her in the process.
He was charged with causing harm and defilement.
Ali pleaded not guilty to the charges but the court presided over by Mr. Anthony K. Amoah found him guilty.
Police Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Stephen Dobara told the court that on February 14 this year, which was a "Valentine Day" at about 11 pm, the accused went to the victim's house with his friend on a motorbike alleging that she had stolen his girl friend's sandals.
He said when they arrived at the girl's house, her parents had gone out and they took advantage of that and forced the girl onto the seat of their motorbike and rode away to the accused’s house where she was pulled into the room.
Chief Inspector Dobara said the accused locked up his door and windows and used a blade to inflict deep cuts on the girl's back and sole to compel her to confess that she took the sandals.
Much as he tried, the girl expressed her innocence and not satisfied with that, the accused boiled water, stripped the girl naked and poured the hot water on her buttocks.
As if this was not enough, he went on to have sex with the girl twice and he also detained her till the next day.
According to the girl, the accused was holding a sharp knife in his hand threatening to kill her if she resisted or made any noise for people to come into the room.
She also said the accused has a big penis and that when she saw it she nearly fainted. But the accused replied, "If I had sex with her she would have died". This drew laughter and lamentations from the people in the court.
Chief Inspector Dobara said when the girl went home she could not bear the pains and therefore told her sister about her ordeal and she led the victim to make a report to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit in Wa.
She was given a medical form to go to the hospital for medical examination. It was found out that there were bruises at the prenatal and the vaginal walls. Her hymen was broken and her vagina had discharges.
Chief Inspector Dobara said the accused after the act went into hiding but was arrested on March 9, 2007.
