“Were there not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?” Jesus asked.
Many of us go through the ins and outs of life successfully taking everything for granted. The question Jesus posed above reflects that our thanksgiving debt blinks on God’s dashboard until we return with our thanksgiving to pay it off. Thanksgiving holds countless blessings for us only if we are ready to give thanks to the one who makes it all possible. Thanksgiving to God helps us to put our life’s happenings into the right perspective knowing that “it is in Him that we live and move and have our being.”
In the year 2009, Teens Aloud Foundation realized this fact and has been providing an avenue each year ever since for recent Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) graduates to thank God in a mega event dubbed the New Breed project. The New Breed project includes New Breed for JHS graduates and New Breed ‘X’ for SHS graduates.
KK Baidoo, a youth development consultant and executive director of Teens Aloud Foundation, mentioned that it was not automatic that anyone who starts school will complete alive, healthy and joyful.
“I believe that the joy of finishing school can suddenly lead students into excess behavior that could end up causing more harm than good,” he added, citing an example of a case in question where a recent graduate in his excited state, recklessly fired a gunshot that almost killed a form two student, he advised that it was better to quickly channel all celebration energies into thanksgiving which is far more beneficial to the spirit, soul and body.
This year’s New Breed event for JHS graduates has already been held in three cities (Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast) and all roads now lead to the SHS event which will also be held in the same three cities starting with Accra on the 26th of May 2012 at Trade Fair pavilion ‘B’ 9am sharp. Included in the package for New Breed 2012 are the thanksgiving celebration, music and dance ministrations from selected Senior High Schools with exciting talent, free refreshment and life-changing messages from renowned speakers who will challenge all graduates to live a life worthy of their godly purpose and assignment.
