The Tema Port has donated items worth some GH¢8, 000 to both the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Tema Traditional Council to aid the National Sanitation Day Exercise.
The National Sanitation Day was instituted by government to deal with Ghana’s poor sanitation situation some five months ago.
The 5th edition of the exercise scheduled for March 7 is expected to receive patronage from Ghanaians across the country.
In its bid to ensure the success of the National Sanitation Day and guarantee clean and healthy society, the Port of Tema has donated the items, which includes 10wheel barrows, 20 shovels, 20 rakes, 24 hand gloves, 2 packets of nose masks, 20 long brooms and 20 foot forks worth about Gh¢ 4,000 to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to support the organization’s effort in ridding the Tema community and the country at large of filth.
Presenting the items to NADMO, a Marketing and Public Relations Officer of the Port of Tema, Isaac Tawiah, said the Ports administration is always ready to support any effort to make the country a better place for citizens and expressed hope that the items will be very useful to cleaning the Tema Metropolis in particular and the Nation at large.
The officials of NADMO who received the items were full of praises for the Tema Port and called on other organizations to emulate the gesture.
“We hope and pray that this will go a long way in cleaning the whole community” said Abdulai Iddrisu, Head of Operations, Tema Metro, NADMO.
