Tension is said to be mounting at the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah, following the dismissal of three Ghanaian workers from the platform.

The three, Ibrahim Aidoo, Victor Ahadzi and Godwin Ofosu, who build scaffolds on the FPSO claim they have been sacked unjustifiably after working on the facility for three years without any incident.

Joy News Correspondent, Kwaku Owusu Preprah reports that the workers, who were employed by Seaward Engineering Ghana, were sacked on Thursday, while working on the scaffold.

According to Ibrahim Aidoo, who is a scaffold inspector, their expatriate supervisor is to blame for their dismissal.

"We were working when the head of seperintendent Head of Department called me and said he had received a report from the white supervisor [from GEV] that we have not been completing work on time and that we are not doing a good job for him." he narrated.

But the workers diputed the claim and  "we explained ourselves that he doesn't have point".

"That's why he said we disrespect him  so we should pack all our belongings and leave," Ibrahim said.

"There is tension among the Ghanaian workers because none of them knows when this will happen to [anyone]," he stated further.

The FPSO Kwame Nkrumah is a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. It operates in the Jubilee oil fields off the coast of Ghana. The vessel is named after the first president of Ghana Kwame Nkrumah.
