INTRODUCTION
The Islamic Foundation for Peace and Development (IFPAD), wishes to add our voice in sending condolence to the bereaved families of the Saturday June 2, 2012; Allied Air Crash. We also take the opportunity to send a message of condolence to the Government and people of Nigeria over a similar tragedy which has reportedly led to the loss of as many as 150 lives.Islamic Foundation for Peace and Development (IFPAD), wishes to commend the Military, Police, Fire Service, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Management of Ghana Airport Company, the Ambulance Service, Health Authorities and other rescue teams whose response to the crash scene helped prevent more disasters.EVENTS POST THE INCIDENTIt is refreshing the manner in which high level government delegations have gone to assess the extent of damage with the President and his Vice, several government ministers and political big wigs all visiting the place. The committee set up by the sector minister, Alhaji Collins Dauda is very much in line as was the visit by the Minister and his colleague Lt Gen Henry Smith, Minister of Defence; who went round to console the families of persons who lost their lives in the accident. We are calling for Government to make good the promise of helping families of the deceased. Another bright spot is the meeting by aviation authorities within the sub region to access the accident and hopefully to chart a much safer path moving forward.CONCLUSIONWe are still waiting for the Committee’s report on this tragedy and would also urge government to convene a round table discussion of experts within the industry to come up with a white paper on improving aviation standards in the country. We hope and pray that this incident will not occur again Insha AllahSignedSHAIBU ABDUL NASIRUAg. Deputy Executive Secretary
