The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has appealed to Churches to always remember prisoners in their prayers and come out with programmes that would help in their reformation.
He made the appeal at a six-day Easter Convention of the Koforidua Territory of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) International at Koforidua on Sunday.
Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo said because of the practise of homosexuality at the Koforidua prisons, HIV infections was very high among the prisoners, some of whom are married men who are likely to transmit the disease to their unsuspected wives after serving time.
He therefore appealed to the Church to extend their mission to the prison to help change and save some of them.
Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo lamented over the "politicization of almost every issue in the country which is tearing the nation apart to the extent that now crime is determine by the political affiliation of the culprit and not the law".
He called on the Church to pray for the Government and to support the government afforestation programme to help save the environment.
